St Brigid's Day

February 1st is St Brigid's Day or Imbloc, marking the first day of spring.
This mural by artist Friz, painted for the SEEK Contemporary Art Festival in Dundalk, depicts Brigid as both Celtic goddess and Christian saint.

Nicely seen Margaret, this is a very clever mural and you've captured it perfectly

Interesting juxtaposition of the two sides to Brigid in this beautiful artwork, and a lovely photo you have taken of it. V

intriguing...with the saint's side sporting both the traditional Brigid's cross and the trinity knota, and the goddess' beauty, not least the auburn hair, the artist seems to favour the secular over the church...a fine clean capture to fill the frame with the joy of Spring..

We're a month off from your calendar; here we are still in summer and will not hit autumn until 1 March. And toasty indeed it is today.
I knew who this was before I even read the caption; I know that somewhere else in your galleries lurks a photo of this mural.
I tend to prefer the right hand side myself, but the contrast between the cool green and the hot red makes for a suitable metaphot for the transition of the seasons. (To the extent that there IS a hot red in Ireland...)
