A lot of surf photography is documentary by nature. That means me trying to capture the amazing action of the athletes. But that doesn't mean that there isn't room for creativity and self expression using the surfer as an element in the frame. I took this shot from a bluff high above the action and into some super, harsh light on the water. High contrast mono processing rounded out the fun.
