the park is experiencing an invasion of English Ivy, considered an invasive species...efforts have been made to remove the plants, but so far the ivy has evaded any real control over its growth

It's photogenic to be sure but very difficult to control - good luck!!

Well you made a very lovely image of it and it is a nice looking subject!
I guess even our enemies have something good about them!

I can relate to that. I have invading morning glory that I never even planted. Good luck getting rid of the ivy!

I think the English is there to stay - same down here - ecological evolution...

Very pretty, you have just the right climate for this invasive.

They take over everything. However I really like how you photographed this and captured the delicate details. V

Must say, I do like English ivy but it can certainly take over. In this beautiful shot it looks wonderfully benign.

Oh yes, once that gets a hold it won’t let go. I always thought the patterns on the leaves were interesting.

With the resources Vancouver can bring to bear, and persistence ... I'd hate to see it smother that moss.
Mairéad27-Jan-2023 21:17
Ivy is very tenacious - but the birds love the berries.

It's difficult to control

Beware of invasions, David! It is one thing to be invited, and quite another to be an invader. Although it looks beautiful! V

Fine shot of this invader, and I doubt it can be completely gotten rid of.
