On this 29° F morning, hiked Abram's Creek trail to White's Lake to see if any duck migration was going on.
Coots are rare for this area; see 'previous' for a shot I took today that gives size perspective.

Good photo. Enables an interesting comparison with our coot, observably different with ours having a more well-developed shield which is white.
