Casa Gassiot
The Gassiot house is located on the corner of Sant Rafel and dels Dolors streets and is characterized by its three facades, where fully modernist elements (such as the arabesques on the forgings) are combined with others of a medievalist flavor (especially in the windows of the facade located on the axis of the chamfer). It was built in 1911 based on the project of Alfred Paluzie Lucena , who, between 1903 and 1913, served as Olot's municipal architect and carried out an intensive urban planning task. The Gassiot house, as well as the Masllorens, Gaietà Vilà or Escubós buildings, among others, are a good example of his decisive contribution to the implementation of Modernism in Olot.On this occasion, Sadurní Brunet began to intervene three years after construction had begun and with the house fairly complete, which suggests that his contribution should have been limited to the interior design of the noble room of the housing and not to other decorative elements of the facade. Thanks to his diary, we can know that in 1914 he spent a few days plastering ceilings.
