Humayun’s tomb, New Delhi, closeup

Precursor to the Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Mughal Emperor Humayun (A.D. 1508-1556) was commissioned by his first wife, Empress Bega Begum, in 1558. Construction began in 1565 and was completed in 1572.

The building was the first to use the unique combination of red sandstone and white marble and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.

I’d say Tim was really impressed with this beautiful building!

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly unsharp.

That is so cool! And it's amazing that he captured it with no people in the way. ~BV~

Tim's adventures since "retirement" from the government have been absolutely amazing. He seems to be traveling more than ever with his new work. Bet you wish you could be with him. He's seeing some fantastic sites (sights) that most can only dream about. His iPhone is also doing a great job in capturing them.

Quite a contrast to a little plot in a quiet corner! That is so grand. I wonder what it is used for now.
