STANBRIDGE EARLS
Boyt of Wool in Romsey Hampshire, Stanbridge Lane Farm House 1881 Census
(Joella Boyt) in England rented Stanbridge Earls property (Salsbury) from Florence Nightingale. King Alfred is rumored to have been buried under the kitchen stones, and the property is today an elite boy's school. There is a late 1800s photograph of the family meekly standing round the venerable gentleman (mutton chop beard) and his wife Caroline. Six boys and six girls, not all of whom lived to adulthood (scarlet fever took little Septimus before age 11). The three I know to have emigrated to the United States were John, Sophia and Walter.
