Re-cycling

A view to the south of the bog which is slowly returning to a more definitively bog-like state.
A full third of the bog remains behind me here.
This was full of water until July 2021 when the beaver dam on the south end was breached after heavy rain.
I've visited regularly but I haven't posted any images in this gallery for a while.
I have pictures of the breached dam and the resulting vast mudflat, but haven't had the heart to post them.
Of course they have documentary value but from an aesthetic viewpoint they are quite discouraging.
But nature/wildlife adapts and may need to adapt again if perhaps someday the beavers restore the dam.

This is quite a tale developing. It would be great for the dam to be restored.

Actually amazing how fast nature restores itself, perhaps not to the same as before, but to its own specific beauty.

It's a really beautiful composition and color palette.

with the water drained the land now seems more hospitable to flora and fauna, birds in particular...it is attractive too with the grasses returning and the ring of autumn trees..

I find the tones of picture soothing and it reminds me of old paintings that I remember in relatives homes as a child. I must learn more at Bogs.

Looks like a very large area. Like the perspective and fall colors in your image. The description is very interesting. I lived near an area of bogs in Germany, some of which were thousands of years old. Makes for interesting discoveries and images. "V"

Still a beautiful fall scene, and an interesting commentary. Hard to believe that was full of water little more than a year ago.

In the future this could well change again, as you say; the endless cycle... it is still a beautiful autumn view. V

Interesting. I was just reading about how beavers can modify the landscape--mostly for good!
