We could see these fireworks from our patio door.

Well, so far, this camera still works.
Of my 4 cameras that were outside on our deck when a surprise downpour happened, this bridge camera was probably the least weather sealed. Not that weather sealing of the 2 DSLR and one Mirrorless bodies completely kept those 3 cameras dry from the heavy rain either... Everything got totally soaked. There was water even inside the card & battery compartments of the super weather sealed 1Dx!!!
I had just finished watching the early evening news in which the weather reporter said there was a zero chance of rain. Zero!!! At that same time, my husband was outside on the deck to check on something. All was fine when he came in. Then, less than 3 minutes later, I glanced out the patio door to see rain coming down in buckets!!! My poor camera equipment! I'm always so protective if there is any hint of rain, but this time, Nature got me. I had planned to go back outside when the sun had mellowed. So, with no rain in the forecast, I felt safe leaving my camera equipment on the deck. Guess I wasn't.
On the late nighttime news, the weather reporter later mentioned how dry everything was in the Metro; except for one brief, very isolated, pop-up shower. Guess "isolated" meant at "our house". By the time, we were able to get the cameras indoors, the rain had totally stopped as quickly as it had started. The total downpour had to have been less than 5 minutes tops. Nevertheless, it was a real deluge that quickly soaked everything.

I wasn't expecting the above fireworks display (although there someone seems to do one each Labor Day weekend) until my husband mentioned hearing the booms. The quickest way to capture a few photos was to grab the bridge camera because it was one piece. The other 3 camera bodies still have their lenses detached to dry out... All 4 cameras were sans cards and batteries to let those compartments (which did get wet) to dry out. But I was able to quickly shove and battery & card in the Panny Bridge Camera. However, my heart wasn't in doing handheld photography. So, I really didn't manage my settings for a humble bridge camera (that does not handle high ISO) nor hold it properly still. Oh well, the photos were just a memory...
Anyhow, I now known that this bridge camera still works (for now anyhow.) That's good. I'll see about my other camera equipment tomorrow. One of my Canon L-lens (weather sealed) got some moisture inside. That was a really heavy surprise rain. Life is full of surprises. That was one that I didn't at all see coming.
