Relics Of St. Boniface Of Tarsus

Warsaw, Poland

In the church of St Anthony of Padua in Warsaw, under the main altar, there is a reliquary of St. Boniface of Tarsus.
The relics were brought here from Rome, given by the pope Innocent XII, in 1693.

Very interesting image, and obviously very meaningful to have the bones of the saint in that church. V

The crown on the skeletal head makes this feel somewhat macabre. However - in light of historical context - I understand why he is laying in state like this. Very interesting image.
