Annual Cicada

Annual cicadas are known as such because groups of them emerge every summer and are responsible for the drone that so many Southerners and Midwesterners associate with late summertime.

The cicadas are really loud this year.
When this one landed on our deck, he caught my eye.
I thought his green color with black & gold markings looked quite pretty in the golden hour lighting.

This Cicada puts our drab brown ones to shame! What a beauty this one is. Excellent sharply focused shot to show off his beauty. V
