Foreign tourism made its appearance in the 1950s and developed spectacularly during the 1960s. His arrival changed the lives of the Calellencians, who abandoned fishing, already affected by the appearance of motor boats that did not fit such a small port, and devoted themselves to tourism. The fisherman from Calella was able to rent rooms, sell his house on the sea front and build two houses with the profits.Unlike so many localities on our coast, the old center of the town remained almost intact in the era of the urbanization fever. The urbanizations spread towards the outskirts and the height of the new buildings was limited, with which Calella, despite its obvious growth, has been able to maintain the charm of a seafaring town.
