If you drive south on Route 131 out of Steamboat Springs towards Oak Creek and take route 14, you'll wind up at Stagecoach Reservoir.
The impoundment serves for irrigation, municipal water supply, and flood control and generates some electric power. The Yampa River is its source; and the 'tailwaters' below the dam is a wonderful area to visit.
For this image, I'm standing on the fisherman's trail that follows the west shoeline of the Yampa River and I'm looking west.
I like this image with two fisherman for size perspective.
