If you drive south on Route 131 out of Steamboat Springs towards Oak Creek and take route 14, you'll wind up at Stagecoach Reservoir.
The impoundment serves for irrigation, municipal water supply, and flood control and generates some electric power. The Yampa River is its source; and the 'tailwaters' below the dam is a wonderful area to visit.
Took two photos and 'merged' them for this pano. I'm down on the fishing trail very close to the Yampa River.
