When you drive around Iceland the absence of trees is very noticeable.
Iceland lost most of its trees over a thousand years ago.
The Vikings chopped them down.
35% of the country used to be covered with trees.
Now less than 1% of the country has trees.
The native trees are Birch, Aspen and Rowan.
I’m not sure what these trees are but I wanted to make sure I got a photo of them.
There is a big movement in Iceland now to reforest the land.
