Most of the time when I photograph wildlife I try to show the species in the best conditions I can: great pose, clean conditions, etc. But this time I wanted to post a shot showing a different part of nature- the natural part. This Great Egret had just made a strike to catch this fish in water that was filled with grass and mud. It came up with its feathers wet and dirty and its catch was in the throws of its last gasp. This is another side of wildlife photography and documents the struggle the different species endure each day for survival.
