This is at the back of what we laughingly call "the garage" It is, in fact the remains of Rose Cottage. My house, formerly 3 cottages, was built some time in the 1670's and I think that Rose Cottage might well predate that by a few years.
A previous owner of the properties applied for planning permission to renovate Rose Cottage and when refused, in a fit of pique, he started to demolish it. There are 3 partial walls left, two cobbled floors, part of the fireplace and the bread oven.
As we are now in a Conservation Area we can do nothing with these remains except preserve them. The beams were rotting and dangerous and the tin roof leaked like a sieve so it's new beams and new tin roof to protect the remains.
It's going to be a long job but I shall end up with useable dry space and Rose Cottage remains will be protected.
