Noticed this salamander (also called red-spotted newt) alongside a forest road. In the juvenile stage this is known as the red eft https://pbase.com/laroseforest/image/164241493) and looks completely different as well as being terrestrial. The adult stage, shown here, is aquatic except it will sometimes spend the winter under logs on land.
