Mealtime for an Osprey

The osprey is an excellent fisher. Almost all of their diet is fish and they can spot fish as they fly overhead. Because they were created with the ability to close their nose, they can dive more than 3 feet into the water for their fish. Here you see one perched in a tree eating its catch.

We have a number of them along the Willamette between Salem and Corvallis. I am preparing to do a video of a bicycle group and had to plan sites around the Osprey nests. As I explained to the person "producing" the video, they were here before us.
