With 2 stalks and 11 blooms, the white Amaryllis "Snowdrift" became too top heavy and suddenly fell over. One stalk - with 3 open flowers and 3 buds - snapped off. How disappointing. To salvage what I could, I stuck the broken off stalk into a small shot glass with water. A little while later, when I moved another Amaryllis ("Gervase Sport") to a different table, one of the half open buds on it just fell off. No real reason as to why. So, I popped that into the shot glass with the white cluster stem.
Voilą!!! A "Still Life" to photograph. I didn't really set the scene or do anything special; other than sit the glass on a small white table. Still, my 2 "broken" Amaryllises look pretty good together. Although Amaryllises normally are not considered "cut flowers", these flowers (getting accidently separated from their original plants) worked out. In water, they will remain pretty for days.
