The 300 SLR WAS built in 1954 and raced in 1955. This car was the most advanced
automobile at the time. I am not sure how many of the roadsters were built at the time.
I believe possibly about 10. Mercedes also built 2 coupes that were never raced. Recently
the one coupe that was privately owned sold for a record price of $142,000,000.00. Back in
the day that car toured the U.S and came to Eugene, Oregon where I lived. I was able to sit
in that car.
