foraging

observing the two beavers for a while revealed that they were foraging in turn at one particular spot at pond's edge...slowly sneaking up, and disguising myself as a tree...well sort of...leaning against a willow trunk and keeping still, it was possible to get fairly close for a better view

the beaver, Castor Canadensis, is the official animal of Canada...appropriate too, as they are resilient and hard-working, build their homes with wood, and in times long past the fur trade was key to the exploration and establishment of the country

Your 'one with nature' has certainly paid off with this fab close-up of Mr. Beaver

What a great closeup! Sounds like you excel at being a tree! Wouldn't he be surprised if he tried to chew on you. He looks like a giant rat.

This is an amazing catch!
The setting is compelling and adds so much to the feeling about the subject!
Really awesome.

Lucky fellow... won't be a hat. They can be destructive in urban areas, but I do admire the work ethic and home construction. V

A nice catch, looks busy, yet wary. Good thing Beaver Hats are no longer in fashion.

They are beautiful animals. Nice capture of it hard at work. I’m glad fur trapping doesn’t happen much anymore. V
