My hotel was on Losoya Street. I didn't know where the name came from until I came across this sculpture by William Easley. It was donated by the Adolf Coors Co in 1986 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo.
Toribio Losoya was born in the Alamo and baptized at the San Fernando Cathedral.
Originally a member of the Mexican army, he deserted that army and joined Juan Seguín's company of Tejanos (Texans of Mexican descent).
Losoya died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836 at the age of 27.
