May Day has its roots in astronomy. Traditionally, it was the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice! In ancient times, this was one of the Celtic cross-quarter days, which mark the midway points between the (four) solstices and equinoxes of the year. Nature has awakened from her sleep.
Today, May Day is a time of the seasons changing. May 1, as well as the entire month, is a time of flowers blooming, trees returning to life, birds singing, and animals coming out of hibernation. Nature becomes beautiful again!

In our Solar Room...
A Long Story
A cardinal pair moved in uninvited, and I couldn't convince them to leave.
Mama is sitting on their nest (built in an indoors house plant) in the above image.
Knock on wood, cardinals (or at least this pair) seem to be very clean birds. Amazingly they didn't ever soil inside the house. Instead, they always went outside. Maybe that was because although baby birds do poop in their nest, it is in a fecal sac that a mother bird disposes of. A fecal sac is a robust membrane that holds the poop. Our cardinals' nest was always clean whenever I checked it. So mama bird was doing something to keep things clean. Meanwhile, a mother bird will NOT poop in the nest. Our cardinal pair seemed to consider the entire Solar Room as their nest and would always fly outdoors to do their business. Who would have thought? Even a lot of birds, raised as house pets, aren't this considerate. This cardinal pair was totally wild. Yet, they did no damage.
The entire story is unique and can be found with some of my other photos.
