We have this cherry tree out back that
can not make up its mind if it's going to live or die.
It's an old tree and is widely rooted.
The trunk and branches are scared from decades of feast,
famine, disease, the occasional miscut while pruning
and I am pretty sure there is a kid with a hatchet in its past.
Yet every spring it reminds us life can be beautiful
if we let it be.
