WhattIzzIt?

Find these all the time in the garden soil
Had to figure it out if it's good or bad?
Took the photo and ran it through Google Images...
It is a moth pupa. Still not sure if it's good or bad.
I am going to leave them because I don't get much damage
in the garden because the wasps, hornets and birds seem
to do a good job of keeping things in check.
The moths are good night time pollinators and
if you ask any mama tree swallow she will tell you her babies like
moths because they are soft in the middle and filling.
So I guess it balances out!

Now I know WhatItIzz!

These pupa WhatItIzz freak me out even though I know they are harmless in this form.

Yes, a moth pupa, and good or bad (depending on one's viewpoint!), these are food for songbirds, particularly in the caterpillar stage... so this one has to emerge, mate, lay eggs if it is a female, and then the caterpillars appear later to the delight of songbirds! V

Strong, natural color for the plain looking critter. Nice photo, too

Keep it and see what emerges, its probably some sort of brown moth, but it will pollinate your flowers... and its babies eat them!
