Today was a relocation and touring day. The ultimate objective was Blythe, California for the night. Along the way we made a stop at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. It was one of those deals that we ought to stop because the probability of getting down there again is small. It is located on the border with Mexico.
As with the desert southwest parks, it is cactus, sand and hot. Taking a hike wasn't very appetizing, so we drove around slowly in the campground while Ginny looked for stuff to photograph. After about an hour, she had all the images she wanted, so we headed out for a 3 1/2 hour drive to Blythe.
Today's photo is representative of the landscape. No matter where you drive, you see stuff like this. It doesn't matter which road you are on. Ginny was looking for something pleasing, and this was the best of the bunch. The bunch of stalks on the left side is an organ pipe cactus. The rest are saguaros.
