Semipalmated Plover alternate
Our most common "one-ringed" plover, the Semipalmated is easily separated from Piping and Snowy (especially Gulf Coast Snowy) by the dark upperparts tone (similar to Killdeer) and from Wilson's by the much smaller bill (often with orange coloration as this bird). The orange legs are also only shared by Piping. This bird may be a male, possibly a first-year male based on the degree of blackness on the face, but females can be similar. Both sexes become duller in basic plumage.
