Is the president taking extra precautions? He is 79 and the leader of the free world! So far, he is not doing anything differently. He attended former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's memorial service Wednesday morning. He plans to attend a crowded White House Correspondents' Association dinner on Saturday before flying Sunday to Minnesota for former Vice President Walter Mondale's funeral. That surprised Jeffrey Koplan, a former CDC director who said in an interview that Biden is not like most Americans. Koplan noted that Biden is commander in chief at a time of war in Europe and is also "someone who is at risk at least by virtue of age."

Meanwhile, Dr Fauci told The New York Times he would be skipping the White House press corps dinner Saturday "because of my individual assessment of my personal risk."

Fauci has been the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984. Dr. Fauci has advised seven Presidents on many other domestic and global health issues. He obviously knows "something". So maybe President Biden should reassess his own current COVID risk and follow in the more cautious footsteps of Dr. Fauci. They are about the same age and have the same personal risk for COVID.

The Vice President is about 25 years younger than the President and doesn't have the same higher risk of a bad outcome from a COVID infection. She is double vaccinated and double boosted, but still contracted the virus anyhow. The subvariant of Omicron currently is dominate in the USA & is EXTREMELY contagious. It is the most contagious virus on Earth.

Fauci says US is in a COVID Transitional Phase

"We're not over the pandemic. Don't let anybody get the misinterpretation that the pandemic is over, but what we are in is a different phase of the pandemic," he said. "A phase that's a transition phase, hopefully headed toward more of a control where you can actually get back to some form of normality without total disruption of society, economically, socially, school-wise, etc."

Fauci noted that, in fact, Covid-19 cases are trending up again, though it's not anywhere near the rise we saw over the winter with the Omicron wave. "So what we need to do is continue to be vigilant, to follow the CDC guidelines, to do the kinds of things that protect you: Get vaccinated, if you're not vaccinated; get boosted if you're eligible for a boost. If you do get infected, be aware that there is availability of antivirals."

Fauci's comments on PBS drew attention on the same day the Biden administration announced that he would not be attending the annual White House Correspondents Dinner after considering his individual risk. The President will be attending that function...

Personally, I don't see how Biden will avoid getting it. He really should be more careful, especially at a time like this.
