WFH

Two year's on and I'm still working from home.
I have been venturing out to cover events and do interviews, wearing a good quality mask.
There's been a sharp rise in cases since the mask mandate and other restrictions were lifted a few weeks ago, so I will be doing as much work by phone as I can.
Officially we are supposed to be returning to the office to trial hybrid working but with the increasing rates of infection, I don't think anyone is
doing to object if I continue to work from home.

It needs "This means YOU, Toffee!" added to it, but I don't think it would have any effect.

Cases here (as in the state of NSW) are generally in the 12,000 to 20,000 per day range. There was a huge spike in mid-January but that was a data anomaly; case numbers are now mostly reliant on self-reporting from Rapid Antigen Tests rather than PCR tests and the RAT numbers had been backlogged. People mostly only go for a PCR test if they need it for travel or are feeling ill. Hospital numbers are climbing but the rate is nothing like the new case numbers. (1,177 cases yesterday, 44 of which are in ICU.) I know a number of people who have had it recently and while they didn't enjoy the experience, it's not as catastrophic as Delta was (or could be). For all of the ones I know of personally, it was like a dose of the 'flu. (Though I know of cases where it was far worse, just not first hand.) Masks are mostly gone here except for travel on public transport.

The numbers are probably low because some people won't report a positive RAT result (it's required by law, but how do you enforce that?), or from people who didn't take a test in the first place because their symptoms (if any) didn't make them think they had it.

I'm still working from home most days because hey, it saves me a 4 hour commute each day so why wouldn't I? The place where I work has seen the opportunity to save some costs and assigned desks are giving way to hot desks so that some space costs can be saved, though I don't know whether that would even be possible at the Daily Planet of Ireland.
