For the first steps of the procedure, I drilled out rivets with the door attached to the airplane. Working alone, it is the easiest way to hold the door steady and have two hands for the drilling.

In this figure you can see the starboard door latch. There are two screws which will be removed a little later. There are also two rivets near the edge. These hold clips which are used to attach the door seal. They have to be removed to be able to pull the latch out.
