A SERIES of six images. After prancing around on a small offshore island, the Merlin spent considerable time jumping around on either a submerged rock outcrop or on a submerged ice shelf along the island. Several people have asked me what it was doing. Well, I don't have a clue except that it often just stared into the fast flowing waters, jumped around a lot as if surprised by something, but didn't actually catch anything nor did it take a bath. I suspect it saw its own reflection in the water, or perhaps a fish swam by on occasion and surprised the Merlin or it was just mesmerized by the fast-flowing choppy water??? In any case it gave me plenty of opportunity for some good behavioral shots.
