Pilot's Grave

Dirleton, East Lothian

The grave of WWI pilot Hugh Fanshawe Glanville who died in 1918
when unable to pull out of a spinning nose dive over Gullane, East Lothian.
Amazingly his co-pilot escaped unhurt.
Glanville had already survived two narrow escapes when an earlier plane crashed en route
to France and another sustained 28 hits while flying low over enemy lines.
