A.L. Miller High School

Macon, Georgia

Here's a blast from the past (4-1-2011 looking at the original image straight out of the camera)! Taken just about 11 years ago.

I remember seeing this while driving through Macon, Georgia. I was just driving around looking for interesting places to take photos of and I found this beauty just sitting right out in the open. I'm sure I made a few other drivers angry when I saw this. I'm sure I hit the brakes hard!

I must have about 7 or 8 different angles taken from the left to the right side of this building. This one (directly centered) tickled my fancy so much so I over-processed the heck out of it. But I think it looks pretty cool. Almost storybook like. Like something you'd see in one of those hand illustrated horror novels or comic books.

A fine shot and post work.

I believe it was an all girls school when it first opened but then later became a school for both boys and girls. I believe now, it's a school administration building. I was looking at Google Maps the other day at this location because the last time I went there with a model to do some outdoor shots and possibly some indoor shots, it was completely boarded up. That was maybe 2 months after I took this photo. I had it up on my personal pbase account and I had a model say she wanted to do a shoot there if possible. Well, we got there and as I said, it was all boarded up. We went elsewhere for photos though. I so wanted to get an outside shot of her looking out of the windows, looking at me. That may have been a cool looking shot. The broken blinds in the windows were just really cool looking I thought and putting a person in one of those windows would have made it look really creepy/scary. She had a laced head cover she was going to use for a window shot which would have been fitting for the shot I wanted to try and get.

But Google Maps is now showing cars parked in the parking lot and it looks like the windows were not broken and everything looked... better, not new... better. There were still water stains on the building and the trees are MUCH larger/fuller too.

I think Stephen King could have done an excellent book on this school building. Very creepy looking indeed!

I really like this. You nailed it. Is it an historically significant school?

Straight from a Stephen King novel. Nicely done.
