I do like distilled spirits. Wild Turkey 101, Maker's Mark and Glenmorangie I buy in 1.5 liter bottles. They are the go to on my shelf for making cocktails. But there are a bunch of Scotch Whiskys that I like as sippin' likkers, especially the double cask matured. I recently bought a bottle of Aberlour, a 12 year old double cask (American oak / sherry) matured Scotch whisky. It is a malt that I keep on the sippin' shelf. When I looked at the two bottles (new one on the right) it was clear that they had changed their label. It is also evident that the label now says Speyside, not Highland. I was pretty certain that they did not move the distillery. I guess what it boils down to is that the Speyside was recognized recently as being separate from the Highland region. Does that make any difference? Not as far as the whisky is concerned. The marketeers probably think they will sell more whisky. Actually, it was up to the Scotch Whisky Regulations of 2009 to dictate location names. Anyway, Highland or Speyside, Aberlour is a very nice whisky.

All Speyside is Highland, not all Highland is Speyside. Aberlour is a nice whiskey. Try the Aberlour A'bunadh cask strength for a sherry bomb.
