I have some very sad news to share with you all.
Tug is still with us but the news is dire.
He collapsed on Wednesday night.
His gums were pale and he was cold as ice.
He hung on through the night.
I didn’t want him to go to an ER place because they would have taken him and not let me be with him.
I would rather he died at home than be by himself with people he didn’t know.
I called the veterinarian I have worked for for over twenty years at six in the morning.
When I told him what happened he said he would leave right away and we met at the hospital.
It was obvious he had had an internal bleed.
We were both hoping it was his spleen but when we did the ultrasound it turns out it is his liver that is filled with cancer.
The spleen can be removed the amount of liver that is affected on him cannot.
He stayed at the hospital all day yesterday getting IV fluids.
He is well loved by everyone at the office because of the lively greeting he always gives them when he visits.
As sick as he is he was still able to take treats from all my coworkers.
We brought him home last night.
He is still very weak but he is eating and going outside to go to the bathroom.
Charlie, Della and I are very sad and we will do all that we can to make sure he is comfortable.
I just thought you all should know seeing you have known Tug since he was a puppy.
Here is my boy this morning.
Normally he would be running around in the snow.
Today he is just looking at the treat I have in my hand.
Tug lost his battle with liver cancer and died at home on January 29, 2022. We miss his joyful being and his zest for life.
Rest In Peace my handsome boy.
