NGC 2736 ("The Pencil Nebula") is a small part of the larger Vela Supernova
Remnant, appropriately located in the southern constellation of Vela. It is
part of the shock wave moving out from a supernova explosion approximately
11,000 years ago (and currently moving at 400,000 mph).
