winter face

Spanish Banks

the winter face of the beach offers quite the contrast with that of summer...there were no picnickers to be seen yesterday, easy to understand

It looks desolate and cold!

This really looks cold and wintry...no wonder there were no picnickers around on a day like that

The desolate atmosphere beautifully captured! V

A very frozen and dystopic world is a fantastic vision!
I love seeing the city in the background.

Yes, easy to understand... and the dark sky does not announce a quick change !

Definitely a spot for warmer weather fun.
Gill Kopy05-Jan-2022 04:09
Oh my, this isn't what Vancouver is supposed to look like !! Just one lonely photographer in a forlorn world who did a great job capturing the mood :) V

As long as the ground's not too slick for walking, it's kinda pleasant to wander on one's own on a cold quiet day with no one else around.
Julie Oldfield05-Jan-2022 01:42
Striking sense of desolation. It’s definitely inhospitable for a picnic. V

I would chose indoor dining as well. That sky looks rather ominous.

I'm sorry David, but I must disagree with this be assessed as 'Winter's Face'; even if you've captured the cool abandon so well.
Helen Betts04-Jan-2022 21:48
Quite the mood, and definitely not an inviting beach that day.
Hank Vander Velde04-Jan-2022 21:42
Looks cool and damp.
Nick Paoni04-Jan-2022 21:40
The chill is definitely in the air- I can almost feel it through my computer screen.
Don Mottershead04-Jan-2022 21:03
Good thing you have your Olympus. It can handle a fall, but photographers are more susceptible to injuries. Careful on the ice.
Mairéad04-Jan-2022 20:47
Looks like an icy spot , not surprised there's no-one around.
joseantonio04-Jan-2022 19:26
nice view with the city in the distance.V

A cold place to picnic burstill a very cool (pun intended) photo of this location!
LynnH04-Jan-2022 18:51
This looks like a painting. I love the dappled snow and slush and the placement of the round tables and round pavilion. Really well done. V
Dan Greenberg04-Jan-2022 18:18
It definitely does offer quite the contrast. And you have actual snow, which I don't believe is a frequent event there. Great job of portraying the desolate and cold winter mood. ~BV~
