Mask up

More cases of Covid-19 were reported in Ireland in the period between Christmas and New Year than in all of 2020.
As the highly contagious Omicron variant takes hold, the number of patients being treated for Covid in hospitals is starting to rise, as the same time as a growing number health care workers are out sick. The nurses union is calling for all non-emergency treatment to be cancelled.
Our police service, public transport, and private businesses are all reporting staff shortages.
Here in Louth, one in ten people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the lead up to New Year.
I will be continuing to wear masks whenever I go shopping or other crowded areas. In fact I am now double masking, wearing these cotton masks made by my son's girlfriend over a surgical mask.

Same on this side of the Irish Sea too - we're back to WFH again, having enjoyed a brief couple of months in the autumn when things almost appeared normal. Ah well...

Forgot to add we are advised to change to industrial n95 too.

Same here...leaving the house only if it's medical, groceries delivered to our patio table and FaceTime or messages to family...masks are a permanent part of dress :)

Very nice detail shot. I like the look of the homemade masks. Here the vaccination rates are high, over 80% have had three shots. Masks are require in all indoor locations.

It’s a sad situation for sure. Nice array of colorful masks and just add a n95 underneath you’ll be protected and stylish too! V

A good idea !
Same situation in France and they are tired in the hospitals to receive so many people who have not yet been vaccinated...

Sad news. I fear that "we" are too quick to loose the reins and then off goes the virus again. Very pretty masks.

What a pretty assortment of masks here. I like how you've arranged this still life and photographed them from the side. V

Good idea to double mask; I was thinking of doing the same thing, with one of my double sided cloth masks and a surgical mask. I find it unfortunate that people finally got into the habit of masking, only to find that now what they had been using is not enough.

you have a good supply...as Christine wrote N95 masks recommended here, yet they are hard to find, and expensive..staffing shortages everywhere are a problem, and many medical professionals suffering burn-out from the workload and the stress is a big issue..

It is much the same here, more cases than have ever been reported before. They are now suggesting we all wear the N95 masks if we can, but double masking is good. Love your shot!
