This aircraft was manufactured under licence by Commonwealth Air Corporation in 1948. Manufacturing commenced in 1945 for P-51D variants then later models were improved designs. 200 were manufactured in total in Australia.
Flying from bases in Japan, these Mustangs flew combat missions for 10 months until they were replaced by Gloster Meteors
