Summer Light

Summer light in a wash of blue
Scattered clouds cast a hue
The gull awaits its moment to fly
While my gaze lifts slowly to the sky.
Green gold leaves cling to a tree
They rustle gently on a warm breeze
High above the waves I say,
I’m happy to be here to see this day.
