An old railroad bridge was converted to the Lied Bridge which allows a person to walk across the Platte River and really see what this river is all about. It is wide and shallow with sandbars both above and just below the water surface. It is really amazing how wide this river is. There are a number of covered stations where you can set and just watch nature moving or catch your breath if you are carting a lot of camera equipment with you. There are never enough tools or camera equipment for a guy until take this walk. As you can see you can get right down to the edge of the river. Saw an air boat go flying by. There are train tracks on the far side and every now and then you can see them rolling by.
