This is a picture of my dad on his 99th birthday - 02 March 2021
He died on 25 September at 99 1/2 from COVID, despite being vaccinated.
My mother, 97, though also hospitalized, survived the infection. They
had both entered an assisted living facility just a few months prior.
The COVID was attributed to a family member of another resident who
infected their assisted living facility by taking her father out
for a couple of days, then returning him while she was sick, as were
some of her workplace folks. She then waited two more days to get
tested for COVID and was positive.
This woman had been a problem for the facility for a while because she
would visit her father and apparently skirt the sign-in, remove her mask
when inside. She was apparently unvaccinated. Obviously the facility
is not giving out a lot of details.
That we know of for sure, at least ten people became infected; at least 4 went into
the hospital, including both of my parents. Three people died, including my father.
So my father was 99 1/2 and you might say he had already lived long
but in the end he suffered unnecessarily and my mother is now alone.
And I and others in my family did not get to see him again.
And it just didn't have to be that way.
