Bering Sea

Morzhovoi

So, here I was. I was twenty-seven years old. Just months ago, I was warming my toes in the soft, golden sand of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I was surrounded by hundreds of people. Now, I was on the edge of the world, alone in the wilderness with the sea and my footprints. As far as I knew, I was being stalked by one of the largest predators on earth. Why was I not more afraid? Actually, I was too busy soaking everything in. This is the adventure I had dreamed of since I was a young boy!
Eventually, I did stop walking. I decided to turn and return to Bryant and the other members of the team. They could come back at any time. As I stopped, I took a couple of pictures with my camera. These are my words that I recorded after returning to the radar site: "This is a picture of nothing but water and sky. I was just taking this shot of the sea and the sky."
