Memorial Day 1970 Ron Waggoner

Morzhovoi Sunset Through a "Pootchkie" (Wild Celery)

Saturday evening, I decided to do some shooting with my camera one last time before the trip was over. We were now at the lake where we were to be met by our plane. After dinner I walked up the incline to the top of the hill behind our campsite. I wanted to get one last view of where we had been. My, how I was so excited to see an amazing panorama from above! From left to right I could see the lagoon where we had spent the last two nights. A creek emptied into it after traversing the distance between the lagoon and the large lake that we had passed. The lake was visible on the right in most of its glory. Between the lake and lagoon were two bear trails (shown in a previous photo) plainly visible in the rapidly dwindling daylight. I focused the camera, and at ten pm started shooting six photos from left to right... simulating a panorama that would forever be etched in my mind. This last two was captured at ten- thirty pm. It was an attempt to be creative. I focused the camera on this weed (pootchkie) with the sun right behind it.
