The coast at Kerrycroy.
The Isle of Bute straddles the geological faultline that separates the Highlands from the Lowlands.
At school we were taught the fault line runs under the pier and through the island.
All the way up Loch Fad to Scalpsie Bay.
To the south: red sandstone, sandy beaches and the Lowlands.
To the north: gray schist, rocky, pebble beaches and the Highlands.
Most the time we lived north of the pier.
So that makes me a Highlander.
Kerrycroy is in the Lowlands.
