Jumbo's Cabin

Coal Creek Historic Park, Cumberland

The park is now a network of trails that retraces the historic location and streets of Chinatown.
The big fire of 1943 destroyed most of Chinatown and in 1968 the dilapidated remaining
buildings were razed. Only the home of one elderly Chinese man, Hor Sue Mah (affectionately
know as Jumbo), remains as the sole surviving original building from Chinatown.

So neat seeing that the cabin has survived and also seeing how the logs were joined at the corner.

This cabin looks sturdily built and not surprising it had survived the devastating fire...but the wood surfaces do look singed and scorched...great info and composition...V

An extremely over built cabin for its size. Just a thought. "V"
