White- winged Chough - white feathers only show when they fly or open their wings when on the ground.

Australia

Live in a noisy family group of up to ten, and have been known to kidnap youngsters from other family groups to raise as their own, they take up to 4 years to reach maturity. Not very strong fliers, spending most of the time foraging for food on the forest floor.

Excellent capture of the black tones and details, Bea. Such an interesting and unusual (for me) bird. No white visible - is this the female?

Very interesting bird! I wonder where the name 'white-winged' comes from? Do they have white under their wings?
