East End Historic District - built 1889
This photo was taken on September 8th, 121 years after the devastating 1900 Hurricane that destroyed 90% of the island and killed over 6,000 residents. Homes built prior to 1900 are true survivors.
Beneath the porch lamp, there is a diamond shaped emblem. That is a high water marker for the 2008 Hurricane Ike. The second worst storm for Galveston.
