Furnace Waste Gas
While the boilers could burn coal and natural gas to heat the drums of water, they primarily burned the waste gases created inside the blast furnace during the iron-making process.
The gas was cleaned and pumped by the blowing engines into both the boilers and the hot blast stoves. The steam created in the boilers would be used to power the blowing engines
and the turbo blowers, the skip hoist, and the machinery in the Power House.
